Canadian Writers
On May 5, 1979, Canada issued two stamps commemorating Canadian writers Frederick Phillipp Grove and Emile Nelligan. While the stamps featured scenes of
novels from the authors, the corresponding FDCs showed portraits of the two men. After protests of Grove's family that the portrait was not a likeness of F.P. Grove, the covers were withdrawn
(Likeness of Grove).
