Shakespeare Festival

On April 23, 1964, Great Britain issued an air letter commemorating the Shakespeare Festival based on the 400th birthday of the poet. The inside of the air letter pictured the Royal Shakespeare Theatre, but the inscription read “Shakespeare Memorial Theatre ...”. The name was changed in 1961. The air letter was withdrawn after a few weeks and replaced by a corrected issue reading “Royal Shakespeare Theatre ..."
