Occupation

Indian troops occupied the territory of Portuguese India on December 18, 1961. The stamps „Sports“ (Dec 1961), „Anti-Malaria Campaign“ (Apr 1962) and the obligatory tax stamps „Medical Service“ (1961) were issued but could in fact not be used for valid franking. The issue of these stamps certainly was partially attributed to the hope that the situation would change again.
