In 1971, a donation stamp was issued in the GDR to frank a contest for the newspaper “Junge Welt”, translating to "Young World", and the Society for the Promotion of the Olympic Concept. The stamp, although already available at the post office counter, was withdrawn, so it wasn't officially sold. Allegedly, 1,000 pieces were nevertheless sold, 20,000 stored and the rest of the circulation of 2,000,000 destroyed.

The stamp was withdrawn in favor of the donation stamps from 1972/1973, also on the occasion of a contest by the “Junge Welt” and the youth studio DT64 for the 10th World Festival of Youth and Students 1973 in Berlin.
