Crimea

Immediately after the annexation of Crimea, two stamps were issued in Russia on June 19/20, 2014, as part of the definitive series "Territories of the Russian Federation", featuring motifs of Crimea. One stamp with the theme "Republic of Crimea", the other "Sevastopol". The Ukraine protested the issue of the stamps to the Universal Postal Union (Circular 136/2014) and, as a postal war measure, refused to carry letters franked with the stamps.
