From September 11-13, 1947, the 2nd state party congress of the SED took place in Saxony. A special postmark was issued for this event. On this postmark was also the acronym"BU.-L." for “Bundesland” (=“Federal State”) imprinted. In the SOZ and later in the GDR, Thuringia, Saxony etc were "States" and not “Federal States". The postmark was withdrawn after 2 hours, after first trying to blacken the corresponding letters. The postmark was then re-applied with ". . ." instead of the letters.
