The Greek Olympics participant Sampanis won the bronze medal in weightlifting at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. This was worth an immediate stamp issue to the Greek Post, which appeared just one day later. Shortly afterwards, Sampanis was convicted of doping, so the stamp was withdrawn just six days later.
