Formula 1 racer Michael Schumacher retired in 2006. Austria intended to issue a stamp in the same year, listing the years of Schumacher’s championship titles. The stamp did however list the year 1996 (Damon Hill won the championship) and missed 1994, Schumacher’s first title win.

Therefore Austria refrained from issuing the stamp but did produce a corrected stamp which eventually was issued on December 4, 2006. However, after consultation with Schumacher, the Austrian Post decided to also issue the erroneous stamp. The date of issue was May 29, 2007. The erroneous stamp could also be purchased in a folder together with the corrected stamp.
