Football World Cup 1994

On July 1, 1990, Iraq intended to issue a sheetlet commemorating the 1990 Football World Cup in Italy. The 20000 copies of the issue were printed in Egypt, but arrived belated in Iraq, due to the Gulf War. Therefore the sheetlets were not issued. In March 1997 however, 2000 copies were erroneously delivered to Baghdad Post Offices. The mistake was discovered the same day. It is believed that between 100 and 200 copied were sold before withdrawal.
