Environmental Protection

In 1992, the United Kingdom issued a stamp series dedicated to Environmental Problems. The 24p value (acid rain) had an inadequate phosphoric layer. Therefore mail sorting systems did not recognize the stamp readily and thus mail was not properly handled. The stamp was therefore withdrawn after a few weeks. Most of the stamps were already sold by that time.
