Eit-Al-Fitr

On December 24, 1999, Pakistan issued two stamps commemorating Eit-Al-Fitr (Celebrations ending Ramadan). The stamps featured the Masjid-e-Navbi mosque in Medina. Since Islam does not condone displays of religious symbols and buildings, an ombudsman (Wafaqi Mohtasib) ruled that the stamps had to be withdrawn. This ruling was executed on June 9, 2000.
