Western Union

As of May 2016 India intended to introduce the “My Stamp” concept whereby customers could order individualized stamps. Before it was already possible to customize the attached printed label. The first such stamp was ordered by the company “Western Union” and intended for issue on May 10, 2016. The stamp itself was supposed to feature the Western Union logo, the printed label should show the flow of remittances.

The basis of the printed label was a map of the wider region in which Pakistan borders were represented with parts of the disputed Kashmir region included. The error was noticed at the release function at Chandigarh and the stamp was not issued. Instead the stamps were reprinted with a different printed label and issued months later.
