On August 19, 1981, a stamp with the title "Alcoholism / You can beat it !” was issued in the USA. The stamp quickly became controversial, as the U.S. Postal Service was accused of becoming a "pseudo doctor" on the one hand, and on the other hand the stamp could suggest to the recipient that he or she would have an alcohol problem. Therefore, the stamp was not very popular for postage.
